Easter Activities for Fun and Educational Home Learning

With Easter around the corner, you might be looking for creative ways to keep your little ones engaged while supporting their learning at home. At Blue Nest Montessori School, we create nursery learning activities that you can easily replicate at home. We also provide nursery learning resources to make children’s home learning enjoyable for them and simple for parents to implement.

Read on to discover four fun and educational Easter home learning ideas that will keep your child entertained while fostering important skills.

1.  Easter Egg Hunt

An easter egg hunt is a classic activity that is fun for all the family. Whether you have children of different ages or want to get your extended family and friends involved, easter egg hunts are a great way of encouraging socialisation and play.

Hide a few eggs around the garden or around the home if you haven’t got access to an outdoor space. You can give verbal clues to help them find the eggs, e.g. “near the window”, or prompt them by saying “hot” or “cold” to guide them in the right direction.

2.  Rabbit Hop Game

This energetic game is perfect for getting your child to move their body and practise their balance. For a touch of friendly competition, you could host a hopping race, where all participants must hop like a rabbit from the starting point to the finish line as fast as they can. Make sure to hold this activity in an area with plenty of space and a soft landing in case anyone, adult or child, takes a tumble!

3.  Make an Easter Card

If you are looking for a calm and creative home learning activity, when you want your child to have some quiet time, you could set up an easter-card-making craft table. This is a wonderful way of improving fine motor skills and encouraging artistic expression.

Fold an A4 piece of paper or card in half to form the card, gather the glue and scissors and print out some easter-themed images. Encourage your child to look at the images and choose what to cut and stick shapes onto the card.

4.  Egg and Spoon Race

The egg and spoon race is another activity we like to do with our nursery children to practise hand-eye coordination and improve patience. Prepare a dozen hardboiled eggs to prevent a mess if they crack!

Give all the participants a spoon and a hardboiled egg each and demonstrate how to walk holding the spoon to keep the egg securely in place. Younger children should be allowed to use both hands, while any older children should try to use a single hand.
